Lymphatic massage, also known as Manual Lymphatic Drainage Technique (MLD) uses soft rhythmic strokes that lightly stretch the skin and connective tissue, thus creating a gentle pumping action increasing lymphatic flow and stimulating lymph nodes, and vessels. Lymph fluid and toxins from areas of swelling will move to a healthier portion of the lymphatic system to be transported away and out of the body. MLD for Oncology and Post-Surgical Therapy concentrates on creating healthy pathways for Lymph flow after lymph node removal or surgical disruption of the body. Yes, we accept HSA cards and, we are registered as a National Provider. We do not bill directly to insurance; however, you will be provided with a receipt that you may turn in to your company with a doctor’s order
Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage considered a Medical treatment?
Yes, MLD is acknowledged by the Health field as a medical treatment for some diagnosis such as cancer, Lymphedema, and Post-surgical care. MLD may also be used as a tool for the overall health of your Lymph system and a way to rejuvenate your body.
Does Lymphatic massage hurt?
No, Lymphatic massage uses light touch to enhance the flow of lymph fluid in the body. The lymph system is primarily located under the skin layer of the body, so we do not need deep pressure to affect the system. Occasionally, a firmer touch will be used in an area of increased congestion. Your therapist will alert you when this is necessary
Do I need a Doctor’s Order for MLD?
Your Primary Care or Specialist Physician may prescribe MLD in your treatment course; however, you may schedule your session without an order. Care from your therapist will not be different with or without a written doctor’s order.
